Helping women achieve their dreams
Mercy grew up in Cameroon in a household of great cooks. She studied to become a journalist, but when her family moved to Modena with her two young sons, everything changed. She felt that without experience, good knowledge of the language, and because of the color of her skin, doors were always closed to her.
In 2022 she joined the Culinary Training Program, and by the time she graduated four months later, she had received 4 job offers! She began her new job as a cook one month after she graduated, and within three months, received a life-time contract. She now feels that she has found her passion, and a career that she and her family can be proud of.
Professional Training Programs (tirocinio)
Our program lasts 4 months, is paid, and is a 27 hour per week commitment. The schedule includes both restaurant working experience, classroom learning, and individual mentorship. After the program, a certificate of completion is given, and we provide support looking for and preparing for the new job.
Restaurant experience
By the time you graduate, you will be well-prepared to work in a professional restaurant because you will have the experience working in the Roots restaurant 3-4 nights per week.
Classroom learning
Just like a school, we have weekly classes on topics that will help you to gain even more skills for work, like bread-making, but also skills that could help you on any job, like writing a professional curriculum and reading a paycheck.
Mentorship
Throughout the process, our team will work with you 1 on 1 on your own professional goals, and support you when needed through this experience.
